Events to Remember
The SCV Food Pantry hosts events that support our mission of alleviating hunger in the Santa Clarita Valley. We are always in need of volunteers to help make these events successful.

Letter Carriers Food Drive
Each year, on the second Saturday in May, the National Association of letter Carriers (NALC) conducts the largest food drive in the world! On this day, post office vehicles pick up neighborhood donations along their local route and transfer the food to SCV Food Pantry trucks who then store and distribute the contributions.
It is from donations collected during this food drive that the SCV Food Pantry has historically been able to keep its doors open during summer months – when donations are at their lowest but need is at its highest because children are out of school and unable to participate in breakfast and lunch programs.
The SCV Food Pantry makes an appeal to the local community via regular mail and e-mail twice each year to encourage participation in the letter Carriers Food Drive.
Open House
The SCV Food Pantry has an annual open house where donors are invited to tour our facility to see how our food distribution operates with current resources.

Rotary Club Turkey Drive
Every Thanksgiving, the Rotary Club of Santa Clarita Valley donates hundreds of turkeys to the food pantry and helps distribute the turkeys as well as rolls, vegetables, stuffing and other trimmings to hundreds of families.
Volunteer Appreciation Event
In December, during the holidays, the SCV Food Pantry board and the facility’s executive director host a luncheon to say “thank you” to the dozens of volunteers who staff the pantry on a daily basis. The pantry could not stay open without them.

"I have been going to the SCV Food Pantry since I was a very young child and am very grateful for all they do. My Father was sick and couldn't work and we only got by with help from the Food Pantry. They are always kind and helpful. Now that I am an adult and have a family of my own I see the importance of helping and giving back to the community."
